[DCHAS-L] GLOVES IN STUDENT LABS

What an
excellent idea and question!
I=92m not sure if this is in line with what you=92re asking, but
I might include some questions about storage and disposal of the
chemicals. In
particular, what environmental hazards exist?
Unfortunately, some high school chemistry teachers fall into
the trap of ordering exotic chemicals, accepting donations of chemicals
from industry (translation=97the industry is relieved of the cost of
disposing of these chemicals, and instead, a school has to pay the fee),
or the teacher orders more than is necessary (funds are so scarce in
schools, when a little money shows up, we HAVE to spend it!) The result is, the
chemical stays on the shelf for years, the teacher who ordered it has
left the school, and none of the remaining staff has any idea what the
chemical is for.
