It sort of depends on who will be doing the loading and from where. I approve these for loading docks where there always will be a truck with its lift extended at the level of the dock when the gates are opened. Then both theater grad students and regular trained employees can load in and load out scenery in safety.
But this is a mezzanine. The only scenario that will now work is if these are trained workers (not students) and they will only open the gates when there is a platform lift at the level of the mezzanine. But if there are other scenarios where they would have a reason to open the gates when there is a fall hazard, then this won't be enough.
The other problem I see is that you can't use lifts that have outriggers since you won't be able to get up to the wall of the mezzanine and fork lifts have plenty of space to fall between the forks so that's out, too. It's got to be the right kind of platform lift.
