A large fire Monday afternoon at a Lebanon company
that specializes in refurbishing computers could be seen for about 20
miles.
The company, Omni Resource
Recovery, located at 222 Business Park Drive, was full of boxes,
Styrofoam, chemical and plastic when the fire occurred at 1:30 p.m.,
said officials.
Crews believe the fire
started when a computer battery overheated.
One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion but was
treated and resumed fighting the fire. The 20 employees inside the
business were evacuated and not hurt.
The
blaze was also accompanied by explosions after two propane gas tanks
caught fire.
There was a separate fire at
the same warehouse about three weeks ago, but that fire was extinguished
quickly. Crews said that fire was caused by the same problem, an
overheated battery.

Attorney for 'bomb house' owner files claim against
county
An attorney for the owners of
the "bomb house" property near Escondido has demanded at least $500,000
for his clients' loss and distress, according to a claim filed with San
Diego County.
In a dramatic operation that
captured national attention, authorities burned the single-story
residence to the ground on Dec. 9, 2010, to destroy what they said was
its huge and highly unstable stockpile of explosives.
They said fire was the only safe way to neutralize
the homemade bomb materials found throughout the cluttered house just
west of Interstate 15 and north of El Norte Parkway. Authorities said
the explosives included the same destructive compounds as those used in
recent terrorist plots.
