However, the "meter" in the last sentence in the original was "metre" whi
ch in poetry is the scansion of the final rhyming (or non-rhyming) line.&nb
sp; A play on words and used to be used in English books to demonstrate "
metre".
Of course, we could have one of those song-fests using limericks t
hat goes to the tune of " Ai, yi, yi, yi...In China they do it for Ch

around, again, Willie. I'll play the guitar for it and everyone
gets to add their favorite limericks. Best done, however, in p

Now, maybe we should actually get back to discussing science and chemical
safety.

We mi
ght forget something, but Google never does.
Lots
of info on non-rhyming limericks, those with more than 5 lines, etc. &n
bsp;Just google 'limerick' or (as I did) the first line of the verse Alan
provided...
But h
ere's the verse:
A young meter-reader named Peter
While looking around for a meter
By a leak struck a light,
Then he rose out of sight.
And as anyone who knows anything ab
out poetry can plainly see, the
explosion also destroyed the meter.
I suggest a limerick-fest at the next
DCHAS social event....
