Hoping that many with an interest or involvement in this area of ventilation have reviewed or submitted comments.  There's still time.  See below.

Greetings Z9:  Please see the notice below addressing public review of the proposed Z9 Standard.  Any stakeholder interested in reviewing the draft standard should order the document per the instructions below.

Comment Deadline: September 10, 2013

ASSE (ASC Z9) (American Society of Safety Engineers) - New Standard
BSR/ASSE Z9.14-201X, Testing and Performance-Verification Methodologies for Ventilation Systems for Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL-3) Facilities.

The ventilation system of a high-containment laboratory is central to its performance and operation and the ultimate key to ensure that the environment is safe for human occupants, research animals, and the environment. The test methodologies in BSR/ANSI/ASSE Z9.14 provide guidance to ensure that all reasonable facility engineering controls and prudent practices are in place to minimize, to the greatest extent possible, the risks associated with laboratory operations and the use of bio-hazardous materials. The proposed BSR/ANSI/ASSE Z9.14 standard provides users of new or existing BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratories with guidance on what ventilation system components should be inspected visually; what should be done to verify that the system components operate such that the overall system's performance (i.e., directional inward airflow, response to failures, minimizing leakage, etc.) can be verified to assure safe operation of the facility's ventilation system and ensure compliance with current local, state, and federal, or industry standards and best practices. The standard may be used for laboratories designed to handle agents and infected animals that require BSL-3/ABSL-3 containment as defined by the latest edition of the BMBL as well as other research, pharmaceutical, and insectary facilities designed to perform at the BSL-3/ABSL-3 level.
