We have a shut off switch (on button and off button) to the gas line as it comes into the room. It has been a wonderful solution to random playing with the valves that would cause
safety problems. -Jo, Butler University, Chemistry

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Locking out laboratory natural gas fixtures
I have a client looking to lock out some existing deck-mounted laboratory natural gas fixtures such as these ones my company sells: http://www.safetyemporium.com/?L4200-131WSA
He said the spec calls for some sort of device that locks on to the hose barb. But the manufacturer of the valve doesn't have anything like that. We have some other type of lockout devices that might work on the handle portion, but before I recommend he start trying those out I thought I would consult the collective wisdom of the list first.
So, has anyone ever locked out their gas valves and how did you do it? Obviously, one can lock out the gas line master shut-off, but they are apparently looking to have individual ones.
Thanks.
