GREEN LABS PROJECT
WEBINAR SERIES
                           JANUARY - APRIL 2015

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The growing need to identify and develop best practices and data-driven technical guidance for scientific laboratories has been matched only by the need to incentivize and reward adoption of pollution prevention efforts.

In this complimentary webinar series we will review the successes, challenges, and lessons learned from a project to assess and improve the sustainability metrics of DEOHS laboratories.  We will discuss how we facilitated the participation of laboratories in the UW Green Lab Certification Program, identified areas for improvement, and evaluated potential intervention opportunities to conserve energy and water, divert waste from the landfill, and transition to safer and greener chemicals.  We also worked closely with the UW Green Laboratory program to provide recommendations for developing better acceptance guidelines for low-scoring parts of the application.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Academic faculty, lab managers, students, staff,  academic sustainability offices and sustainability professionals interested in best laboratory practices to promote energy conservation, green chemistry and waste reduction.
