I am a pilot. Pilots gloves are made of Bones with only the palms a soft leather. Bones is used on most of the gloves because leather shrinks quickly in a fire. The flight suits are also Nomex and along with the Nomex head cover under the helmet in combination with the o2 mask and visor combination should protect the pilot from a fuel fire for up to 10 or 15 seconds. More than enough time to eject.
