Hello all -
I am contacting you to let you know about a conference that will take place this summer at Duke University, for managers/instructors at student shops from across the country. It's being sponsored by our Pratt School of Engineering.
If your college or university has a student shop where students (especially engineering students) learn to use machine tools (lathes, mills, etc) as part of their curriculum, I hope that you will forward this email to the manager, director, or primary instructor at that shop. (Note that the managers/directors/instructors at these shops are the hoped-for attendees at this inaugural conference - it is NOT intended for safety professionals-.but I'm emailing you because I hope you can spread the word.)
For more information about the conference, please see
http://ssmc2015.pratt.duke.edu/.
Also, please note that the Wednesday morning presentation by Rob Klein and John Campbell will address lessons learned and culture change following the tragic death of a Yale student in a machine shop incident in 2011. Shop managers may also want to join this Linked In group - more information about the conference will be posted here as well.
Thanks.
