Here’s our Minors in Lab policy:  http://manuals.ucdavis.edu/PPM/290/290-32.pdf

In the chemistry department (where I’m safety manager), anyone who works in a research lab is required to take on-line Fundamentals of Lab Safety training, in addition to lab-specific training.

I’m currently working with Risk Management to make sure all those who may be supervising high school students are fingerprinted and background checked.  I’m concerned there’s a gap.

Hope this helps.

Debbie

Birkett's hypothesis: "Any chemical reaction

can proceed violently in the presence of an idiot."

Hello all,

I would like your policy for high school students coming in and working in your research laboratories. I appreciate your help in this matter.

Michele
