I am in the review process of an article for J Chem Ed. Experiments from Helmenstine and the ThoughtCo site are being used as examples of demonstrations with poor safety guidance.

I'll bet a Google search of Neil Vogel will turn up a way to contact him directly.
ThoughtCo, a Dotdash brand, is an education website that launched in March of 2017. Dotdash is a trusted media company that has been in operation since 1997 and is part of the IAC family of websites.
If all of us contact them with our concerns (IMO, many of the other demos also have safety issues) and recommended alternatives, perhaps we can influence them.
Didn't see a place to leave public comments or ratings but perhaps one exists.

How do we call the site host out? Surely we can use the ACS clout. Can we get the site closed down?

Yes, toxicity is the only potential hazard-
