As appetizing as conducting a sensory panel and paired chemical analysis on 120-year-old cake might sound, the successor of ADL's R&D lab group can't help with this one.

Indeed, Jim K. ( and Zach M.) is correct in that the Innovative R&D operations and it's laboratory that were part of the legacy Arthur D. Little Cambridge operation transformed via new ownership into TIAX LLC here in Lexington, MA.

Unfortunately the food and pharma business that brought you Captain Crunch and conducted quality assurance for Anheuser-Busch have not carried forward with us. The principals of the group still work independently or for other concerns at this point.

Thanks to all for maintaining the memories.

ADL went bankrupt and was sold at auction.  It was, ironocally, their business management division which did it!

The R&D division was bought at public auction and is now called TIAX.  ... Jim

It has been decades since I last had any dealings with Arthur D Little but at that time the company had a R&D food laboratory.  You may want to check there.

Hello,

Does anyone know of a lab that could analyze a 120-year-old slice of wedding cake for ingredients?  We would of course have to factor in oxidation, etc.  This is related to one of our school's founders and our museum group would like to recreate the cake  - possibly for alumni socials, etc.   Thank you for considering this very unusual request.
