Asimov's story is titled "The Last Question". I had my students read the story, along with other end of the world/universe stories, when I taught a segment on Science and Science Fiction. I saw the original planetarium show shortly after it debuted in 1966 at the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia at a dinner with Asimov. The narration by Leonard Nimoy can be found on YouTube without the visuals.

I agree that Nightfall is best as the short story.

Asimov's story Thiotimoline ("The Endochronic Properties of Resublimated Thiotimoline") is a great spoof scientific paper.

If a planetarium near you puts on s presentation, go see. It's narrated by Leanoa Nimoy (aka Mr.. Spock). It's a HOOT!

"How can entropy be reversed?" I don't have the answer. There will be no pop quiz.

And on the subject of Asimov and the end of the world, I'd also recommend the short story Nightfall. There's a full length novel version, and it's alright in my opinion, but I don't think it beats the punch of the end of the short story version!

Et al,

And on the flip side, I'd Recommend Edith Effron;s book "The Apocalyptics".

The world has been coming to an end ever since it was created (or just happened by random chance) (insert beliefs here). Entropy IS!. Read the Isaac Asimov Story called "The Final Answer"/ Whatever you believe, it's a HOOT!..

I highly recommend Debra Bloom's book "The Poison Squad: One Chemist's Single-Minded Crusade for Food Safety at the Turn of the Twentieth Century." Less than 15 bucks in paperback.

While I'm recommending books, I'll also recommend Kate Moore's "The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women."

His work laid the basis for our food safety, and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. He also later developed the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. In my mind he was a real chemist hero. Worth watching if you get a chance. Shows what analytical work does to make us safe, especially when combined with a little toxicology.
