This mode of transmission in the high-rise is reminiscent of the last known smallpox death. Janet Parker died of smallpox in 1978. In her case the transmission was through a dumbwaiter connecting a biology laboratory to the photo lab where she worked.

And here's another letter from the CDC dealing with a call center in South Korea.
We also know that a high-rise in Hong Kong was the site of an infection through a vent pipe for the wastewater...
This is a respiratory disease so transmission through the air is likely the primary source to deal with/think about....

FYI, here's an interesting letter from China published by the CDC related to this morning's discussion of best practices for Covid control in labs.

COVID-19 Outbreak Associated with Air Conditioning in Restaurant, Guangzhou, China, 2020
Abstract
During January 26-February 10, 2020, an outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus disease in an air-conditioned restaurant in Guangzhou, China, involved 3 family clusters. The airflow direction was consistent with droplet transmission. To prevent the spread of the virus in restaurants, we recommend increasing the distance between tables and improving ventilation.
