NPR has an article today titled The Pandemic Is Pushing Scientists To Rethink How They Read Research Papers that discusses how scientists are trying to make sense of the torrent of Covid research. It captures most of the issue pretty succinctly.

It's hard enough for experienced researchers to sort out the good and bad in this area. When hot new papers jump immediately to the press and public sphere, it creates a hot mess that helps stokes a distrust in science, alas.

A quick FYI to the list:
I've received several e-mails sent to the DCHAS-L addressing the health aspects of vaccines at part of the bad research thread. While this is a hot button issue (up there with gun control and smoking), it is not a topic within the purview of the Division of Chemical Health and Safety and I won't be approving them for distribution. There are many other discussion opportunities related to these issues in other locations on the Internet.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
