In response to some of the
comments below, I'll add some further thoughts:
1. I do plan
on continuing to send the list of daily headlines to the list so people
can determine if they want to visit the delicious site for more
details.
2. The tagging system will continue to evolve over
the next few weeks as I gain experience with the process. I do expect to
include location information (states in the U.S.; country names outside
the U.S.)
3. Someone asked about the source of this
information. It is the popular press as reported by google searches.
Thus, the primary value of the collection are anecdotes of
educational and training purposes rather than statistical analysis of
chemical safety event frequency.
Thanks to everyone for their
feedback. Suggestions still appreciated.

Thank you for requesting feedback. I have used the
chemical safety news summaries that you send every day and have found
them helpful in terms of promoting safety awareness. The present format
is convenient for me to use (and I do use it). It would be slightly less
convenient for me to have to go to a Web site and click every link that
I want to read. I appreciate the information, however, and understand
that another format may be preferable to others.

The site is not supported by Compuserve in any
useful way. I can see the titles, but can't get the stories to
come up. Dang. Monona

I have often appreciated your gathering and
disseminating of these =91chemical=92 related Google stories.
I think the new archive site is excellent
I would
continue to appreciate some sort of =91tickler=92 - perhaps the
headlines alone, to prompt me to look at what=92 you=92ve
found.

Ralph -
Great idea; is it possible to add a location TAG, at
least at the state level?

Ralph,
Looks very nice, and I'm sure
that it is easier for you. Could the link still be sent
automatically to the list each day? That would make it
perfect.

I like the tags! Its also a
place I can go back & re-check I story I might have deleted &
then realized I wanted to use. Tags with laboratory, HS or
college/university are the ones I'll be looking out for.
Thanks for
making this available to us.

I do read the stories but I don=92t sort through
them. I like what you have been doing. I don=92t have a
preference; choose the one that is easiest to do.

Thanks for
doing this. Having to read the email every day is sort of a drag on
those busy days of mine, but otherwise I do appreciate it.
I would
really appreciate cataloging lab emergencies separately. I am not very
interested in the non-lab events.
Thanks again,
Pete

Hi Ralph,
Since you asked for feedback,
here=92s mine. I like the emails with the text of the stories
right in the email, because I can skim the email and get the whole set
of stories in one place. I suspect that it=92s unlikely that I
will have the motivation to click through all the links on the delicious
website to read the stories. I can see how it makes the searching
easier, though.
Just my opinion.
Steve
